Alien Employment Permit (AEP)
Before initiating the 9G visa application, foreign nationals must obtain an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Processing Time: The AEP processing typically takes 2 to 3 weeks.â
Process DOLE
- Submission: Complete the application form and submit it along with supporting documents to the DOLE Regional Office. Required documents include the employment contract, proof of Tax Identification Number (TIN), and company registration documents such as the Mayorâs Permit, PEZA registration, General Information Sheet (GIS), and Articles of Incorporation and By-Laws from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC).
- Evaluation: DOLE evaluates the application to ensure all requirements are met.â
- Issuance: Upon approval, the AEP card is issued to the foreign national. It is imperative to claim the card within three months to avoid forfeiture.

With the AEP secured, applicants can proceed to apply for the 9G Working Visa through the Bureau of Immigration.

- Submission: Submit the visa application along with necessary supporting documents, including the original passport, AEP, employment contract, proof of TIN, and pertinent company documents such as the SEC Articles of Incorporation and GIS.â
- Evaluation: The Bureau of Immigration reviews the submitted documents and the visa application.â
- Fees: Upon successful evaluation, the applicant is required to pay the applicable visa fees. The original passport will be returned after payment.â

Visa Implementation and ACR I-Card Issuance
After visa approval, the final step involves the implementation of the visa and the issuance of the Alien Certificate of Registration Identity Card (ACR I-Card).â
Process ACR I-Card
- Passport Submission: Submit the original passport for visa implementation.â
- ACR I-Card Application: Proceed to the Image and Fingerprint Capturing Counter of the Alien Registration Division (ARD) to submit requirements for the ACR I-Card application.â
- Issuance: Once approved, claim the ACR I-Card, which serves as proof of legal residency in the Philippines.â
9G working visa Requirements
In order to facilitate the processing of your applications, whether for the Alien Employment Permit (AEP), PRE-ARRANGED EMPLOYMENT VISA (9G WORKING VISA), or the ACR I-Card, the following documents are typically required:
- Templates: Provided by Asia Relocation to aid in your application process. These will guide you in providing the necessary information.
- Original Passport: Must be valid for at least six months beyond your stay in the Philippines.
- Employment Contract: Should include details such as your job description, salary, and duration of your contract.
- Proof of TIN (TIN Card/Form 1904): A TIN or Tax Identification Number is essential for tax purposes in the Philippines. Must be verified by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR).
- CTC per page of SEC: A certified true copy of the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Registration.
- Articles of Incorporation: A document that outlines the corporationâs purpose and the names of the initial directors.
- CTC per page of GIS: A certified true copy of the General Information Sheet (GIS), showing details of the company directors, officers, and stockholders.
- Mayorâs Permit / PEZA registration: Proof of your employerâs permit to operate in the Philippines. This could be either a Mayorâs Permit or Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) registration.
- Alien Employment Permit (AEP): Issued by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) and is required for the 9g working visa application.
- Newspaper Publication: Evidence that the job vacancy was advertised to Philippine nationals, as required by law.
- Bureau of Quarantine: If applicable, depending on the nationality, a certificate showing youâve passed the Bureau of Quarantineâs health requirements.
9G Working visa Validity & Renewal
The 9G visa is typically issued with an initial validity ranging from one to three years, aligning with the duration of the employment contract. Extensions can be granted up to three years at a time, provided they do not exceed the period specified in the AEP. â
Update
As of September 10, 2024, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration issued Board Resolution No. 2024-001, introducing new requirements for 9G Commercial Visa holders who receive promotions within the same company. Notably, promoted individuals are no longer required to downgrade to a 9A Temporary Visitorâs Visa. However, the employer must submit a Notice of Promotion to the Bureau of Immigration and file an application for the extension of the existing 9G visa within 30 days of the promotion. Additionally, the visa holder must surrender the existing ACR I-Card for cancellation and apply for a new one reflecting the new position.
