9G Working visa | Pre Arranged Employment visa

The 9G Working Visa—officially known as the Pre-Arranged Employment Visa—is the main long-term work visa for foreign nationals in the Philippines.

Issued by the Bureau of Immigration, the 9G visa allows qualified foreigners to engage in lawful, gainful employment under a Philippine-registered company. It includes multiple entry and exit privileges for the duration of the employment contract, and is designed for individuals holding executive, managerial, technical, or highly specialized roles.

This visa is typically granted to professionals hired for contracts exceeding six months, and requires prior issuance of an Alien Employment Permit (AEP) by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

For companies hiring foreign staff or individuals relocating for work, the 9G visa Philippines is a critical step in ensuring full legal compliance and long-term residency rights.

Update

As of September 10, 2024, the Philippine Bureau of Immigration issued Board Resolution No. 2024-001, introducing new requirements for 9G Commercial Visa holders who receive promotions within the same company. Notably, promoted individuals are no longer required to downgrade to a 9A Temporary Visitor’s Visa. However, the employer must submit a Notice of Promotion to the Bureau of Immigration and file an application for the extension of the existing 9G visa within 30 days of the promotion. Additionally, the visa holder must surrender the existing ACR I-Card for cancellation and apply for a new one reflecting the new position.
