Air-Conditioned Storage · Southeast Asia

Air-conditioned storage in Southeast Asia: held dry in one country, deliverable in another

Here it is humidity, not heat, that quietly ruins what is stored. Asia Relocation holds sensitive goods at a steady climate in Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam, under an inventory that lets them be released in the country where you end up.

In Southeast Asia the enemy of stored goods is the air. A wardrobe left for a rainy season comes back with mould, a piano with a warped soundboard, photographs stuck together, a laptop with corroded contacts. Heat is survivable; humidity is not, which is why Asia Relocation holds anything sensitive at a steady climate by default, and says when an ordinary unit or a crate would do.

What the regional level adds is the map and the inventory. The map, because conditioned storage is a building, not a network: one site in Thailand, three cities in the Philippines, three in Vietnam. The inventory, because a household held dry in one country is often delivered in another, and only a list written at intake makes that a delivery rather than a second packing.

Asia Relocation has run its own conditioned warehouses in the region since 2011, with crews that collect, pack and list in each country. This page compares where the climate is held and how goods travel between countries; each country page says the rest.

The perimeter

What is held, listed and watched in every country, and what belongs to another service

Three ways to store with us across Asia; here, the goods are exposed to nothing.

Carried by the service

  • A conditioned unit where temperature and humidity are held steady, pest control on a schedule, in Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
  • An inventory written at intake, item by item, barcoded where the site runs a barcode system, updated at every release, yours for the whole hold.
  • Collection and packing by our own crew, from your home or office, with the materials sensitive goods need rather than the cheapest carton.
  • A secured building: cameras at all hours, alarms, controlled access, dry ground.
  • Release on request, one item or the whole load, found by its entry on the list, delivered to you, onward, or crated for another country.

Volume measured before anything is quoted, per country; the figure then holds.

A different service

  • Goods that will cross a border sealed. A household leaving for another country is cased once: reinforced crates, built to travel unopened.
  • Things you want to reach yourself. Bicycles, boxes and furniture that need no climate go into self storage, with your own access.
  • The shipment itself. Goods leaving the region are a moving file; the conditioned hold is the pause before it.
  • Cover. Quoted separately on the declared value of the inventory, never assumed.

Same coordinator, same file, in whichever country the goods are; name the rest in the inquiry.

What goes in

Five kinds of belongings the region's air would take, wherever they are held

The same list in all three countries; what differs is where the unit is.

Electronics and equipment

Laptops, servers, cameras, audio. Corrosion on contacts is the first thing the air does, before a posting ends.

Corrosion

Instruments, art and lacquered furniture

A piano, a canvas, a cabinet: wood moves, varnish clouds, strings rust. Held at a steady climate, they come back as they went in.

Warping

Paper, books and archives

Company files, school records, photographs, the diplomas nobody ships twice. Damp sticks pages together; mildew does the rest.

Damp

Wardrobes, leather and textiles

Suits, shoes, bags, rugs. Mould grows on leather in a rainy season; a conditioned unit is the difference between storing and discarding.

Mould

Wine and collections

Bottles, watches, coins, whatever holds its value only if its condition does. Listed one by one, released one by one.

Value
How it works

Five steps from the survey to an item you can ask for from another country

  1. The survey, and the map

What is sensitive, where it is, where it may be delivered. We say in which city of which country the climate can be held, and how the goods get there.

  2. The quotation

Volume, term, collection and packing, written per country. Cover on the declared value quoted beside it, never folded in.

  3. Collection, packing and intake

Our crew wraps each item as it requires and lists it as it goes in. The inventory is yours from that day, in any of the three countries.

  4. The hold

Temperature and humidity held steady, pest control on a schedule, a monitored site. Nothing is touched until you ask.

  5. Release, here or across a border

One item or the whole load, delivered in the same country, or crated by an Asia Relocation crew and sent to another of the three, or out of Asia, on its own file.

Who it's for

Four owners of goods the air would spoil, seen from the region

Each ends up on a country page; the regional question is where the goods will be needed next.

The family between two countries

Heirlooms, instruments and archives held dry in the country being left, listed so they can be delivered in the next when the home exists.

The company with equipment in more than one of the three

IT stock, archives and demonstration kit kept in condition, one inventory format, one contact, whichever country holds it.

The collector on assignment

Wine, watches, art: goods whose value is their condition, released one by one from abroad against the list.

Embassies, agencies and NGOs

Accountable goods, rotated staff, a hold that outlasts the person who signed for it. One inventory that reads the same in all three.

The three countries

Where the climate is held in each country, and where it is the only option

The comparison no country page can make, with the door to each.

In Thailand, controlled storage is one site in the capital, on ground that does not flood, with a barcoded inventory; our crews collect from anywhere in the country and bring the sensitive part of a load there, the rest going to ordinary storage or a crate on the same trip. In the Philippines, conditioned units exist in three cities, and in the southern one they are the only storage on offer; which site to use is decided by where the goods will be delivered, because a retrieval from the wrong island is a sea crossing.

In Vietnam, temperature and humidity are held constant with a barcode-based inventory and cover offered on the content, in full-service facilities in each of its three cities. What the three share is Asia Relocation's own crews and one inventory format; what differs is the map.

FAQ

What clients ask before storing something fragile in Asia

Why is conditioned storage the default in Southeast Asia?
Because humidity, not heat, destroys stored goods here: mould on leather, corrosion on electronics, warping in wood and paper, within a season. Asia Relocation holds anything sensitive in a conditioned unit by default and says when an ordinary unit or a crate would do.
Is conditioned storage available everywhere you operate?
In every country, not in every city. Thailand holds it on one site in the capital and collects from the whole country; the Philippines offers it in three cities, and in the southern one it is the only storage option; Vietnam runs conditioned facilities in each of its three cities.
Can goods conditioned in one country be delivered in another?
Yes. The inventory written at intake makes it possible: the goods are packed, listed and, when the time comes, crated by our crew and sent across on their own file, without ever sitting in an ordinary shed. Both ends are Asia Relocation teams.
What is on the inventory?
Every item, listed as it goes in, barcoded in Thailand and Vietnam, updated when anything is released, and in your hands for the whole hold. It is the document that lets you ask for one carton from abroad, or ship the lot.
Can we get one item out without releasing everything?
Yes, in all three countries, on request and by its entry on the list: one carton, one instrument, one box of files, delivered to you or onward. The rest of the hold is untouched.
Do you collect and pack, or do we deliver to you?
Our own crews collect and pack in each country, with the materials sensitive goods need. In Thailand that means from anywhere in the country to the one controlled site; in the Philippines from the two warehouse cities. Delivering yourself is possible where the site allows it.
Is the content insured while it is held?
Cover for stored content is quoted separately, on the declared value of the inventory, in each country. The inventory is what makes a claim usable; without it there is only one account against another.
How is conditioned storage priced across the region?
On the volume measured at the survey, the term, and the collection and packing you choose, quoted in writing per country: the same load is not held or collected the same way in Thailand, the Philippines and Vietnam.
