Air-conditioned storage in Vietnam, for the things a tropical year would quietly take
Heat is not what ruins belongings here; sustained damp is. Asia Relocation Vietnam holds temperature and humidity steady in-house, logs every item by barcode, and runs conditioned units in all three of our cities.
Damage in a Vietnamese warehouse is almost never dramatic. It is a wardrobe that comes out of a long hold smelling of mould, a guitar whose neck has moved, a box of photographs stuck into one block. Nothing fell, nothing was stolen: the air worked on them.
A conditioned unit answers that one problem, and only that one. It holds temperature and humidity steady through a tropical year, keeps mould, mildew and pests out, and is the reason a canvas or a server can wait in Ho Chi Minh City without waiting badly. It is not a room you walk into: goods are handed over, held and brought back.
Asia Relocation Vietnam has run storage here since 2023, and every item that comes in is logged onto a barcode inventory, which is what turns a hold into something searchable. We will also tell you when you do not need a climate: suitcases and a garden table do not, and conditioning them is money spent on nothing.
What a controlled unit answers for, and what it refuses to pretend
One Vietnamese risk is handled here completely. Several others are somebody else's job, including ours on another page.
Held inside the conditioned unit
- A climate, not a temperature. Humidity is controlled alongside heat, which is the half that actually does the damage.
- Mould, mildew and pests. A dry, stable room, plus regular pest-control measures running beside it.
- A barcode on every item. Logged at intake, so one carton can be named and brought out months later.
- Packing and collection, if wanted. Our crew wraps and moves the fragile half; quoted apart from the hold.
- Cover on the contents. Insurance options are written against the same inventory, on request.
Volume is measured at the survey, and the figure follows the measurement.
What it deliberately is not
- Not a door you open. If you intend to come and go, a self-storage unit is the right shape.
- Not a case that travels. Goods leaving the country later belong in a reinforced crate, sealed once.
- Not for everything you own. Half a household rarely needs a climate, and we say which half does.
- Not a repair. A unit stops further damage; it does not undo what a previous store already allowed.
- Not priced from a photograph. Nothing is quoted before the volume and the access have been seen.
Say what is sensitive and we will say whether the climate is worth paying for.
Five contents that settle the question on their own
These are the contents where, in Vietnam, a conditioned unit stops being an upgrade and becomes the only sensible hold.
Electronics, computers and camera gear
Televisions, laptops, servers, lenses. Damp works on contacts and sensors without a mark on the casing, and the fault only appears when the thing is switched on again.
Instruments, artwork and antiques
Wood moves at the joints, varnish blooms, canvases slacken and tighten with the air. These are also the items whose damage cannot be bought back.
Documents, books and business archives
Paper cockles, photographs stick together, ink migrates. Companies hold archives that must be kept and cannot occupy an office floor, and this is where they wait.
Leather, textiles and wardrobes
Bags, shoes, jackets and designer wardrobes take mould first and fastest, and they are usually the items a client discovers too late in an unconditioned store.
Fine wine and collections
A cellar built over years is a stability problem, not a storage problem. Held at a steady climate, it survives an assignment abroad; held anywhere else, it does not.
What happens between your doorway and the controlled room
-
Sorting the fragile half from the rest
Before anything is measured, we separate what needs a climate from what does not. That conversation is where most of the money is saved, not at the quotation.
-
The survey, at the address
Volume, and the entrance: the alley a truck cannot enter, the stairs, the loading hours. In Vietnam those shape the crew and the day more than the cubic metres do.
-
Wrapping, collection and intake
Packing by our crew where you want it, then intake: each item logged onto the barcode inventory as it enters, which is the record everything later rests on.
-
The hold itself
Temperature and humidity held steady, pest-control measures running, cameras, alarms and controlled access on the site. A long hold is meant to be uneventful.
-
One item, or all of it
Ask the coordinator for a single carton or for the whole hold. Access and redelivery are scheduled rather than walked in.
Four owners who hand over the half that cannot take a damp year
Families with heirlooms and instruments
Books, artwork, electronics and the pieces shipped into Vietnam. Usually a conditioned hold for part of the household and nothing at all for the rest.
Companies with archives and equipment
IT hardware between two offices, records that must be kept, stock with a shelf condition. Here the barcode inventory matters more than the climate does.
Collectors
Wine, antiques, luxury fashion, artwork. A collection is judged on condition, so a hold that alters condition has destroyed the point of it.
Embassies, missions and NGOs
Long holds with a reporting obligation attached. What is asked for is not just a dry room but a list that stands up when somebody asks for one item.
The only one of our three storage options that reaches Da Nang
Where goods can wait at a steady climate, and why that decides which city they should sit in.
Conditioned units run in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang. Reinforced crates and units you enter yourself stay in the two larger cities, so a client settling on the coast with a library, a wardrobe and a camera bag has exactly one option — and it happens to be the right one. That is worth knowing before a collection is booked rather than at the warehouse door.
Otherwise the rule is the ordinary one: hold the goods in the city they will be delivered to. Vietnam is long, and an internal retrieval is a distance operation with an overnight leg. Asia Relocation Vietnam says what moving a hold between cities costs before you commit to the first one, which is the only moment the question is free.
