Asia Relocation at IAM 2016 – The Big Easy, Big Energy
October 2016 brought over 2,000 of the global mobility industry’s most dedicated professionals to New Orleans for the IAM Annual Meeting & Expo, and Asia Relocation was proud to be there—right in the thick of it.
Held in “The Big Easy,” the event was anything but laid-back. It was dynamic, fast-paced, overflowing with handshakes, pitch decks, follow-ups, and the occasional well-earned drink. For , a fast-rising player in the Asia-Pacific relocation scene, it was an exceptional opportunity to strengthen its global presence and dive deeper into the IAM network.
Let’s be honest—navigating IAM for the first time can feel like jumping into the deep end of an Olympic-sized networking pool. But it’s exactly this energetic chaos that makes it such a valuable experience. The expo hall was vast and well-organized (event logistics, as always, on point), filled with booths representing movers, partners, tech providers, and logistic masterminds from every corner of the world. You couldn’t turn a corner without bumping into an opportunity.
Asia Relocation’s team made the most of the back-to-back 30-minute meetings, catching up with longstanding partners and introducing themselves to future collaborators—Europe, the U.S., and fellow APAC players were all on the map. The sheer volume of scheduled one-on-ones felt exhausting… and exhilarating. That’s IAM for you.
But IAM isn’t just about business. It’s also about the people. The opening night off-site reception at Generations Hall (a bold logistical move) was a highlight: cocktails in hand, live jazz bouncing off brick walls, and hundreds of conversations happening across every language and culture imaginable. The Louisiana heat was balanced only by the arctic chill of the conference rooms—but no one complained too loudly. We were all too busy making deals.
For Asia Relocation, IAM 2016 was a game changer. Not only did it affirm our commitment to the global mobility industry—it also laid the groundwork for future collaborations that continue to grow today. From New Orleans to Bangkok, Phuket, and beyond, we’re proud to remain an active part of the IAM community.
