Reinforced storage crates in Bangkok: packed, sealed, inventoried, and able to travel

Goods sealed into purpose-built wooden crates rather than stacked on a shelf. It is the option that travels: a crate can sit in Bangkok for a year and then leave the country without being repacked. Asia Relocation Thailand builds the crate, packs it, seals it, and holds it in a monitored warehouse on ground that does not flood.

Most storage asks you to trust a shelf. A crate asks you to trust a seal. The goods are packed by people who pack international shipments for a living, closed into timber built for the load, and left closed until you ask for them, whether that is in six weeks in Bangkok or in two years at the other end of a container.

That is the difference from a unit you open yourself, and it is why the two exist side by side. A unit suits the household that keeps visiting its things. A crate suits the household that wants them protected from Bangkok's humidity, from handling, and from being touched at all until the day they move again.

Asia Relocation Thailand has built and held crates since 2011, in a Bangkok warehouse chosen for ground that does not flood, and collects from Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Hua Hin. Every crate is barcoded and inventoried, and the record is yours, which is what makes a crate findable a year later without a guess.

The perimeter

Built, packed, sealed and held, and what the other two storage services do

Three ways to store with us, and the difference is who touches the goods. Here, nobody does until you say so.

Carried by the service

  • Collection and packing at your home, by our own crew, with the materials the goods need rather than the cheapest carton.
  • Crates built to the load: reinforced timber, sized to what goes in, treated to the export standard so the crate can travel later.
  • Sealing, barcoding and a detailed inventory, with the digital record in your hands.
  • A monitored warehouse: CCTV around the clock, fire protection, pest control, restricted access, on a site in Bangkok that does not flood.
  • Access and redelivery on request, one crate or all of them, in Thailand or onto an international move.

The crate count and the figure are confirmed in writing after the survey.

A different service

  • Things you will keep fetching. If you expect to visit the load, you want a unit with your own code: self storage in Bangkok.
  • Things humidity ruins. Instruments, artwork, paper, leather, electronics belong in a controlled unit: air-conditioned storage.
  • The move that takes the crate abroad. Loading a sealed crate into a container, and the paperwork that goes with it, is our international moving service.
  • Cover for what is in the crate. That is moving insurance, quoted on the declared value of the inventory.

All of these run on one file with one coordinator. Say so in the inquiry.

What goes in a crate

Four loads that end up sealed, and why each one does

Same crate, same seal. What differs is how long it waits and where it goes next.

A household between two countries

The posting has ended, the next one is not confirmed, and the furniture should neither follow yet nor be sold. Sealed in Bangkok, held, and loaded for the next country without being opened when the decision comes.

May travel

The half of a home that waits

A family that moves into a smaller Bangkok apartment for a year and keeps the rest of the house intact for the return. Sealed once, inventoried, and not touched until the larger home exists again.

Long term

Company equipment and archives

Files an office must keep, samples, the furniture of a floor being refitted. Crated on a corporate account with one invoice and one inventory the company can audit.

Corporate

The belongings of a mission

Embassies, NGOs and international organisations rotating staff through Bangkok, with goods that must be accounted for, sealed, and released to a named person. The barcode and the inventory are what make that auditable.

Accountable
How it works

From the survey to a crate you can ask for by its code

  1. The survey

What is going in, for how long, and whether it may leave Thailand. That sets the number and size of crates, the packing level, and which items should go to a controlled unit instead.

  2. Collection and packing

Our own crew at your home, packing to the standard the goods need. Furniture wrapped and corner-protected, fragile items boxed, the whole load listed as it goes in.

  3. Crating and sealing

Crates built to the load from treated timber, closed and sealed, barcoded, and matched to the inventory you receive. From here nobody opens them without you.

  4. Storage

Held in the monitored Bangkok warehouse, stacked under a roof on ground that does not flood, with fire protection and pest control. The record tells us where each crate stands.

  5. Release

One crate or all of them, redelivered in Thailand or loaded straight into an international move, on your written instruction. The inventory closes when the last crate leaves.

Who it's for

Four clients who choose the seal

Expatriates who may leave again

Their goods should be ready to go abroad without a second packing. The crate is built for that day from the start.

Families protecting what matters

Seasonal, sentimental or bulky things that should not be handled for a year. Sealed against humidity and hands.

HR teams and companies

Employee goods between assignments, or a floor's furniture during a refit, on a corporate account with an inventory they can audit.

Embassies and international organisations

Goods that must be sealed, accounted for and released to a named person. The barcode and the record are what make it defensible.

Coverage

One warehouse in Bangkok, collections from four other cities

Crates held in Bangkok; collection and packing in Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Hua Hin.

The crates live in Bangkok, in a warehouse on ground that stays dry in the rainy season, which in this city is the first question to ask of any storage. The crew that packs households in the capital is the one that builds and seals the crates, so the standard does not change between the living room and the warehouse.

From Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya and Hua Hin the goods are packed and crated on site, then brought to Bangkok sealed. A family leaving the coast for a posting abroad can have its crates built at home and loaded for the container without ever being opened in between.

FAQ

What clients ask before sealing a crate

What is a reinforced storage crate?
A purpose-built wooden crate, sized to your load, packed by our crew, sealed, barcoded and stored closed. It resists humidity, pests and handling, and it travels: the same crate can leave Thailand without being repacked. It is storage for goods you do not need to visit.
When is a crate the better choice over a self storage unit?
When you will not need to open it, when the goods may leave the country, or when they are worth sealing against Bangkok's humidity and against handling. If you expect to fetch things every month, a unit you open yourself suits better, and we will say so.
Can the crate leave Thailand as it is?
Yes. Our crates are built to the ISPM 15 standard, heat-treated timber accepted for export to the United States, the European Union and Australia among others. A crate sealed in Bangkok can be loaded for an international move without being opened, which is the whole point of sealing it.
How do I know what is in which crate?
Every crate is barcoded and carries a detailed inventory list, and you hold the digital record. Ask for a crate and it is located by its code, not by memory. Redelivery, in Thailand or beyond, is arranged from that record.
Where are the crates kept?
In our own warehouses, monitored around the clock, with fire protection, pest control and restricted access, on a Bangkok site that does not flood. Crates are stacked in a controlled building, not in an open yard.
What should not go into a crate?
Flammable liquids and gas, perishable food, anything illegal, and the passports, jewellery and papers you would regret sealing away. Goods that humidity damages badly, such as instruments or artwork, are better in our air-conditioned units, and we say so at the survey.
How flexible is the term?
Short or long, on a monthly invoice, and the term can extend when a lease or a posting runs late. Adding a crate later, or taking one out while the others stay, is normal; the inventory is updated each time.
How is crate storage priced?
By the number and size of the crates, the term, and the collection and packing at your home. The figure is given in writing after the survey, when the volume is measured rather than guessed, and the monthly invoice shows those lines and nothing else.
