- Under the Citizenship Retention and Re-acquisition Act of 2003 (Republic Act No. 9225), natural-born Filipinos who lost their citizenship due to naturalization in a foreign country are given the privilege to retain or re-acquire their Filipino citizenship.
Eligibility:
Only applicants who had Filipino parent/s at the time of their birth are eligible for dual citizenship.
- Once Filipino citizenship is re-acquired, individuals can enjoy full civil, economic, and political rights in the Philippines, as if they never lost their citizenship. However, please note that dual citizenship (Filipino and foreign citizenship) is not automatically granted upon obtaining foreign citizenship.
