International movers in Ho Chi Minh City, in both directions

Every international move out of Vietnam starts with someone in your street, not a form. Asia Relocation Vietnam surveys on site, builds its own crates, clears the shipment through Vietnamese customs and follows it to the door at the far end.

An international move is a paper operation carried out by people with trolleys. What holds the date is a Vietnamese export file lodged before the container is booked, a volume measured well enough to buy the right space, and an inventory precise enough for an inspection you will never see.

Vietnam adds a constraint that surprises people who have moved elsewhere: the access decides. Where the truck can stand, for how long, at which hour, and the carry to reach it changes the plan more than the room count. Hence a survey in your street, not a form.

Asia Relocation Vietnam runs the origin end as one structure, not a chain of subcontractors. Our own crews survey, crate and pack; our own desk handles the customs file; a named coordinator follows the shipment until the partner at the far end confirms the last carton.

The perimeter

What we carry out of the country, and what sits outside it

The second column is not small print: most disputes in this trade are about something everyone assumed was in the price.

Carried by the service

  • A technical survey on site — the rooms, the lift, the street and the loading window, and the volume in cubic metres.
  • Packing and made-to-measure crating, built by our own carpenters for the items a sea leg would otherwise punish.
  • The Vietnamese export file: documentation, customs forms and port formalities, lodged before the container is booked.
  • Freight, sea or air, in a dedicated or shared container, against a sailing that fits your date.
  • Delivery at destination by a partner working from our inventory: clearance, unpacking, and the debris taken away.

Every line is written into the quotation, with its limits.

A different service

  • A move that stays in the country. Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi crosses no border: that is a local move.
  • The car. A vehicle you own runs on its own customs file: vehicle transport.
  • The animals. Health documents and a flight booking, not a container: pet relocation.
  • An office. Workstations, servers and a switch-over weekend are an office move — ask your coordinator, that service has its own scope.
  • Cover, and a gap in the dates. Moving insurance is quoted separately, and storage in Vietnam holds the shipment when the dates do not meet.

All of these can run on the same file and the same dates. Say so in the inquiry.

Shipping options

How the shipment leaves the country

The volume and the date choose between these. The technical survey settles both before anything is booked.

A container of your own

Sealed at your address in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi and opened at destination. For a household that furnished an apartment here over several years it is usually the honest answer, and copes best with made-to-measure crates.

Full household

Shared container

A part-load pays for the space it occupies and leaves on a consolidation schedule, not yours. It suits a first posting, or a household leaving the furniture because the next apartment comes furnished.

Part load

Air freight

For what cannot wait for a vessel: documents, a professional kit, the boxes a family needs in week one. Often paired with a sea shipment so life restarts long before the container lands.

Urgent, small volume

Arriving in Vietnam

The same work read backwards, and the half most often mishandled. We clear the goods in, hold them if the lease has not started, and deliver on a day the building allows, not the day the vessel docks.

Arriving

Corporate, project and NGO accounts

Several files under one agreement, named approvers, one billing trail. In Vietnam these are as often industrial as corporate: engineers posted near a plant, rotating on the project's calendar, not a school year.

Company
How it works

From the technical survey to the empty room

  1. Technical survey, on site

We read the street as carefully as the rooms, and that is what sets the crew and the day.

  2. The scope the survey produced

Packing, crating, mode, arrival handling and exclusions. Two apartments of the same size rarely produce the same quotation, because the street outside is rarely the same.

  3. Packing and crating

Our crews pack, label and list. Timber crates are built to measure for what a sea leg would punish, and the inventory produced that day is what both customs authorities will read.

  4. Vietnamese export clearance

Customs forms and port formalities go in before the container is booked. Hence the passport and exit documents early, not in the week you leave.

  5. The far end, and who answers for it

A briefed partner clears, delivers and unpacks, reporting to the coordinator you have dealt with since the survey. Nothing changes hands without a name attached.

Who it's for

Four situations that end in a container

Households arriving in Vietnam

The container has to meet a lease that may not have started and a building that grants a loading window, not a whole day. Timing the delivery is the work.

Expatriates going home or on to the next post

Assignments here move at short notice, and a departure date is often confirmed late. The survey is when you decide what actually crosses the water.

Vietnamese families and professionals leaving

For work, study, or to join relatives abroad. The export file is identical to any other departure, and this page is written for you too.

Companies, plants, embassies and NGOs

Mobility teams, industrial projects and missions moving several people at once, with entitlement to respect and one contact here rather than one per employee.

Coverage

Two cities, the ports, and the plants in between

Crews and surveys in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, and collections from the industrial provinces around them.

Vietnam is a long country and its ports are not next door to its assignments. A household leaving a plant in a province is surveyed and packed at home by an Asia Relocation Vietnam crew, then travels to the port as one sealed consignment rather than cartons passed from hauler to hauler — where damage and losses are created.

The destination matters just as early: what may leave, what must be listed and what will be inspected is decided by the country you are going to, not Vietnam.

FAQ

Questions that come up at the survey

What documents are needed to ship household goods out of Vietnam?
A detailed inventory, a passport copy, your visa or exit documents, and the Vietnamese customs forms. What varies is the destination: the country receiving the shipment sets most of the requirements, so we confirm the full list once it is fixed rather than at the first call.
Why does the survey have to happen on site?
Because in Vietnam the street decides as much as the inventory does. Whether a truck can stand outside, for how long, at what hour, and how far the crew must carry to reach it changes the crew, the day and the price. A form filled in from a distance cannot see any of that.
Can you crate a piano, artwork or a lacquer cabinet?
Yes, and the crates are built by us rather than bought in. Made-to-measure timber is the difference between an item that survives a sea leg and one that arrives with a story attached. Anything of that kind is identified at the survey and crated at your address before it moves.
Does my shipment travel in its own container or a shared one?
The volume decides. A full household normally justifies a container of its own, sealed at your address. A partial one shares space, costs less, and departs on a consolidation schedule rather than on your calendar. The survey tells us which one your inventory falls into.
We are Vietnamese, not expatriates. Can you handle our move abroad?
Yes. A family leaving Vietnam for work, study or to join relatives goes through the same export formalities, the same inventory and the same destination rules as any other departure. The file is written in English, and your coordinator speaks to you in Vietnamese throughout.
Our assignment is at a plant in a province. Can you collect there?
Yes, and it is a regular part of the work here: engineers and project staff are posted where the plants are rather than where the offices are. We survey and pack on site, then move the consignment sealed to the port instead of handing it between local haulers along the way.
Can the car and the dog travel with the household goods?
They travel separately, under their own rules and their own paperwork. A vehicle has its own customs file, and an animal depends on health documents and a flight booking. Both are planned on the same file and against the same dates as the container.
How is the price of an international move decided?
By the volume in cubic metres, sea or air, the rules of the destination country, any crating, the access at both addresses, and the level of insurance you choose. We would rather name those six than publish a figure that turns out not to be yours.
