Self storage in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi: a unit of your own, and the key that opens it
The other two ways we hold things are built to be left alone. This one is built to be opened. Asia Relocation Vietnam rents you a locked unit on a monitored site it runs in-house, sizes it on what goes in, and hands you the key.
People rarely want storage. They want a fortnight, or a year, to stop being a problem — and then they want to reach into it. That second half separates a unit of your own from everything else we hold: it is a room with a door, and the door is yours.
Which changes the question worth asking. Not how safe is the warehouse, answered the same way for everything we store, but how often will I come. Crossing Ho Chi Minh City at six in the evening for one box is an evening, not an errand: a unit on the wrong side of town is cheap until the third visit.
Asia Relocation Vietnam has run storage here since 2023, on monitored sites with cameras, burglar alarms and controlled access, and a written inventory on everything passing through our hands. Unit, collection and delivery are quoted separately, which is how you take a unit from us and still carry your own boxes in.
Where the unit ends and another service begins
A room you can open is right for most of a household and wrong for a small part of it. Read both halves before the survey.
What the rented unit carries
- A door only you open. A secure lock, plus the contacts you name on the agreement — nobody else, ours included.
- A site that is watched. Cameras, burglar alarms, controlled access, a flood-free location — standard, not an upgrade.
- Space measured, not guessed. You occupy what the goods occupy, and the unit can be resized mid-hold.
- Two ways in. Fill it yourself, or have our crew pack and carry — priced apart, so one comes without the other.
- A written list. Whatever we handle is inventoried, so a long hold ends in a check, not a memory test.
Size and figure are put in writing after the survey, never over the telephone.
What a unit is not
- Not a controlled climate. What humidity works on belongs in an air-conditioned unit.
- Not a case that travels. If the goods go onward later, a reinforced crate is packed once and not repacked.
- Not available everywhere. Units you enter run in two cities; Da Nang holds goods a different way.
- Not a flat monthly rate. Nothing is quoted before somebody has seen the doorway and the volume.
- Not a substitute for a decision. We say plainly when a shorter hold would cost you less.
Describe the contents and we say which of the three ways of storing fits them.
Four ways a unit gets taken, sorted by how often it is opened
The same room, rented four ways. How often you intend to come decides the rest.
The unit you visit every week
Stock, samples, event material, a bicycle, what a small flat cannot hold. Sited near where you live or trade in Ho Chi Minh City, because the point is the visits.
The unit nobody touches until the lease starts
A household waiting on a building that is not finished, or a handover that moved. Filled once, emptied once — so it belongs near the future address, not the current one.
The unit that grows and shrinks
You pay for the space you occupy, so a hold moves to a smaller unit as furniture finds its new home, or to a larger one before a season.
The unit we fill for you
Survey, packing, collection and carrying by our own crew, then the key is yours. Common where a building only permits loading outside office hours, or where a lift was assumed.
From the survey at your doorway to the first time you open the unit
-
Somebody looks at the street first
Not the furniture: the entrance, the stairs, the lift that turns out not to exist, the hours the building allows loading. Here those decide the crew and the day, not the volume.
-
The size, and three figures instead of one
We size the unit on what was seen, then quote collection, hold and return apart. Accept all three, or only the middle one.
-
The agreement, and the names on it
Who may reach the unit besides you, and how long the hold should run — both easier to set now than from abroad. Our consultants work in English, French and Vietnamese.
-
Move-in, with us or without us
Your own vehicle and boxes, or our crew packing and carrying. Whatever passes through our hands goes onto a written list.
-
Coming, going, and the day it ends
You open your own unit. When the hold ends, take the contents, have them delivered, or have them sent onward — same coordinator throughout.
Four people in Vietnam who keep a key, and what is behind it
Families between two addresses
The shipment cleared, the apartment did not. A unit absorbs the interval for a fraction of what renting somewhere big enough for a household costs.
Companies and smaller businesses
Documents, office equipment and IT hardware parked during a relocation or renovation. Named colleagues hold the access, so nobody waits on one diary.
Shops and traders short of floor space
Stock and seasonal material kept out of premises rented at retail rates. This is the profile that visits most, so the district decides everything.
People who keep leaving and coming back
Assignments abroad, long trips, a year at home. What a life here accumulates deserves keeping without deserving a container.
Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi have units; Da Nang has something else
A storage promise is a promise about a specific building. Here is where a door with your own lock exists.
Units you enter yourself run in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. Da Nang holds goods in air-conditioned storage instead: it answers the case that matters most there, a household settling while the climate works on its belongings, but it is not a room you walk into. If self-access is the point, the goods sit in one of the two cities, and that is decided before the collection is booked.
Within a city the choice narrows again. Central districts in Ho Chi Minh City mix towers with alleys a full-size vehicle cannot enter; older quarters of Hanoi bring narrow frontages and loading hours strict enough to shape the day. Which is why Asia Relocation Vietnam asks where you live before recommending a site.
The questions that come up before a unit is reserved
Who can open the unit apart from me?
Can the unit change size during the hold?
Do I have to carry everything in myself?
Does it matter which district the unit is in?
Is there anything that should not go in a unit?
Can I rent a unit in Da Nang?
What decides what a unit costs?
What if I leave Vietnam while the unit is still rented?
When a room of your own is not the right answer
The option for what humidity ruins
Electronics, paper, leather, instruments and anything wooden, held at a steady climate, in three cities.

Storage in Vietnam →Say what is going in, and where in the city you live
