Local movers in Ho Chi Minh City, and across Vietnam

In a chung cu the move is agreed with the management office before it is agreed with you: a permit, a service lift, hours you do not choose. Asia Relocation Vietnam handles that, then moves the household.

Two things decide a domestic move in Vietnam, and neither is furniture. The first is the building: a chung cu grants a move-out or move-in permit, expects at least 48 hours' notice, restricts the lift to certain hours and insists on the service lift — the passenger lift is forbidden for furniture and can be fined.

The second is the street. Whether a truck can stand outside, for how long, at which hour, and how far the crew must carry sets the size of the team and the length of the day more reliably than the room count. Both are answered before we quote, which is why the survey happens at your door.

Asia Relocation Vietnam runs these with the same crews that pack shipments leaving the country, one structure rather than a chain of subcontractors. The standard does not drop because the destination is a district away.

The perimeter

What we carry, and what sits outside the job

What is excluded matters as much as what is included, so it is written down here rather than discovered on the day.

Carried by the service

  • A technical survey on site: the rooms, the lift, the lane outside, the loading window, and the volume in cubic metres.
  • The building paperwork — notice to the management office, the move permit, and the service-lift slot at both ends.
  • Protection that follows the journey: a district away, several days down the country, or a boat.
  • Dismantling and reassembly, which here is a requirement rather than an extra: most furniture came in through the lift door in pieces.
  • Unloading, placement and the clear-up, because a landing full of cartons is a complaint to the management office.

All of it is itemised, with the limits stated.

A different service

  • Going out of Vietnam. The moment a border is involved the file changes shape entirely: moving abroad from Vietnam.
  • The car or the motorbike. Two wheels or four, a vehicle travels on its own plan: vehicle transport.
  • Animals. A removals truck is no place for them: pet relocation.
  • A workplace move. Desks, servers and a weekend switch-over have their own scope — ask your coordinator about moving an office.
  • Cover, and the weeks in between. Moving insurance is quoted on its own, and storage in Vietnam takes the load while a lease is sorted out.

They can be planned together with the move. Tell us in the inquiry.

Types of move

Five ways a household moves inside Vietnam

Every one of these is decided by something outside the flat: a permit, a lane, a boat.

Apartment in a chung cu

The commonest expatriate move here, and the building runs it: a permit, notice to the management office, a service lift for set hours. Two towers means two sets of rules and two windows, neither negotiable.

Same city

House or villa in a lane

No lift and no permit, but often no truck access either. Where a lane will not take a vehicle, the load is shuttled to a larger one at the end of it — planned and priced, not discovered.

Same city

Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi

The length of the country by road, and still a domestic move. Everything is boxed and corner-protected rather than blanket-wrapped, the load is sealed, and the coordinator tracks it.

Intercity

Out to Phu Quoc or Con Dao

Combined road and sea transport, sailings and weather setting the date. Packing goes up a level: an island route has more handling points between the addresses than any mainland one.

Sea leg

A partial move

An assignment that starts before the family arrives, or a flat being emptied in two stages. Charged on what actually leaves, not on a truck size.

Part load
How it works

What happens between the survey and the handover

  1. The survey, in front of your door

Volume inside, access outside. That pair sets the crew and the vehicle, and it is why a phone quote is a guess.

  2. The building office, before the date

Notice, the move permit, the service-lift slot and the permitted hours, at both addresses. It is usually the management office, not our schedule, that decides which day is possible.

  3. Dismantling and packing

Wardrobes and bed frames come apart, everything is labelled by destination room, and the packing level follows the distance rather than a standard price list.

  4. The run

Our own crew and vehicle, loaded to be unloaded in the right order. On a long leg down the country or a crossing to an island, the load stays sealed and tracked.

  5. Reassembly, and the debris

Furniture rebuilt and placed where you want it, lift doors and floors protected, cartons and wrapping removed the same day rather than stacked on the landing.

Who it's for

Four expatriate moves, and what makes each one hard

Changing tower in the same district

A move of two kilometres and two management offices. Permits, lift windows and forbidden passenger lifts on both sides, in one day, is the whole difficulty.

Assignees moved to another city

Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi, or out to Da Nang, because the office or the plant is there. A company file, days of road, a family functional on Monday.

Households leaving the city for the coast

Remote workers and long-stay residents heading for a coastal town or an island. Usually the largest domestic volume we handle, and the one where the sailing decides the calendar.

Families between two leases

An assignment extended or cut short at short notice, which here is ordinary. The load moves once, waits in our warehouse, and lands when the new keys exist.

Coverage

Two big cities, a long road, and two islands

Crews in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang, deliveries to the provinces around them, and crossings to Phu Quoc and Con Dao.

Most domestic moves start in Ho Chi Minh City, because most expatriate leases do. The routes that repeat are crosstown between districts, the long haul north to Hanoi, the coastal run through Da Nang, and the industrial provinces.

Asia Relocation Vietnam having its own crews at both ends matters more here than the distance. A team that knows which management office grants a permit in a day, and which takes a week, is the difference between unloading on your date and whenever the building allows.

FAQ

Questions the building usually raises first

What does the building management need before we can move?
In a chung cu, notice to the management office at least 48 hours ahead, and usually a move-in or move-out permit. Lift use is restricted to set hours, and the service lift is the only one allowed: taking furniture through the passenger lift is forbidden and can be fined. We arrange all of it with the office.
Is Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi still a local move?
Yes. It is the length of the country and it stays domestic: no border, no customs file. What changes is the packing standard and the schedule, because a load that spends days on the road is not protected the way a crosstown load is.
Why does the survey spend so long on the street?
Because the street sets the price here. Whether a truck can stand outside, for how long, at which hour, and how far the crew has to carry to reach it decides the size of the team and the length of the day far more reliably than the number of rooms does.
Can you move us out to Phu Quoc or Con Dao?
Yes, and the crossing is planned before anything else. A load for an island is combined road and sea transport, with sailings and weather setting the date. Packing goes up a level for it, because there are more handling points between the two addresses than on any mainland route.
Do you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes, and here it is not an extra so much as a requirement. Wardrobes and bed frames that came into an apartment in pieces leave the same way, both to pass the lift door and to load the truck efficiently. Everything taken apart is labelled and put back together at the far end.
How much notice do you need for a move?
Enough to survey, and enough for the building. The management office is usually the constraint rather than our schedule, since permits and lift slots are granted for specific days and hours. Tell us the date you are hoping for and we will say straight away whether it is realistic.
What will you not carry?
Flammable liquids, gas cylinders and chemicals, perishable food, and live animals. Documents, jewellery and anything irreplaceable are better carried personally than inventoried. We identify all of it at the survey, not on the morning, when it is too late to arrange anything else.
How is a domestic move priced?
By volume, distance, the access at both addresses, the packing and dismantling required, and whether a sea leg is involved. Access is the variable people underestimate: a narrow lane, a restricted loading window or a long carry changes the crew and the day. The survey settles it.
