Pet relocation in Vietnam, where the file decides how long the inspection takes
Animals arriving in Vietnam are inspected, not interned, and what separates a formality from a long afternoon at the airport is whether the paperwork agrees with itself. Asia Relocation Vietnam builds that file, and flies dogs and cats out of Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.
The word that worries owners about Vietnam is quarantine, and the reality is narrower. Animals are inspected on arrival: a veterinary check against the documents that travelled with them. A clean vaccination record and a coherent file make that check short.
So the work is documentary, and front-loaded. An animal coming in needs an import permit obtained before it boards, a microchip, a current rabies vaccination and an official health certificate from the country it left. One going out needs Vietnamese export clearance plus whatever the destination asks for — usually the longer list.
Asia Relocation Vietnam runs that file in house rather than through a chain of agents, and flies from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi depending on the route. One coordinator stays on it from the first veterinary appointment to the door at the far end.
What the service holds, and what stays with you
An animal's file has two authors. The second column says which lines are yours.
Carried by the service
- The compliance review: vaccination history, microchip standard and the rules of the country at the other end, read before any date is fixed.
- Permits and certificates — the Vietnamese import permit or export clearance, and the health certificate that has to match it.
- The crate, IATA-compliant, measured on the animal and delivered in time to become ordinary.
- Airline booking, with the carrier's conditions for that route confirmed before space is held.
- Arrival: the inspection prepared for, clearance handled, and the animal delivered to the door rather than left at a counter.
What is covered is listed line by line in the quotation.
A different service
- Veterinary acts. A clinic vaccinates, chips and signs. We plan the appointments and verify what comes back.
- House rules where you land. Managed buildings decide for themselves about animals; we flag the question, the answer is the landlord's.
- The household itself. Out of the country, that is an international move; inside it, a domestic one.
- The motorbike or the car. Those cross under customs rules, not veterinary ones: vehicle transport.
- Cover and a place to wait. Moving insurance is quoted apart, and storage in Vietnam holds the household until the home is ready.
These can run on one file and one set of dates. Say so when you write.
Five ways an animal moves, and what settles the choice
The animal's size and the carrier's rules decide most of it. The rest is routing.
As cargo, on its own booking
Checked in at the cargo terminal on its own air waybill and tracked as a consignment. It is how most medium and large dogs leave Ho Chi Minh City, and it opens flights passenger bookings cannot reach.
With you, in the hold
Booked against your ticket so the animal lands when you do. Out of Hanoi the choice of carriers is narrower than in the south — worth knowing before a flight is bought.
In the cabin
Small cats and dogs, in an approved carrier, on the airlines that allow it. The rule belongs to the carrier, not Vietnam, so we get it in writing for your routing.
A crate made for the animal
Large breeds, long noses, two animals used to sharing: the crate is built or chosen on measurements, not a chart. It arrives early enough that the animal treats it as furniture by departure day.
Door to door inside Vietnam
Collection from the apartment, the drive to Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi, and delivery at the far end to the same standard. In the hot months the road is planned around water stops and shade.
From the vaccination record to the door at the other end
-
The record is read first
Microchip, rabies history, dates. What is missing now is cheap to fix; what is missing at the airport is not, and that is the difference between an inspection and a delay.
-
Permit and certificate
The Vietnamese import permit for an animal arriving, export clearance for one leaving, and the health certificate timed to be still valid on the day of the flight.
-
Crate and carrier
Measured on the animal, delivered early, and matched to an airline that accepts it on that route. The booking follows the confirmation, not the hope.
-
Departure from Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi
Collection at the apartment, the drive, cargo check-in and the documents presented in order. We choose the gateway on the route rather than on the distance.
-
Inspection, clearance, delivery
The arrival check with the file ready for it, then customs, then home. The file closes when the dog is on the floor of the apartment, not when the plane lands.
Four situations, one inspection to prepare for
Families arriving with a dog or a cat
The permit and the certificate have to exist before boarding. Get those right and the arrival check is a stop at a desk rather than an event.
Households leaving Vietnam
Here the destination writes the rules and Vietnam signs the paperwork. Strict arrival countries set the calendar months before anyone books a flight.
Career moves on a short timeline
A start date that will not wait. We say in the first exchange whether the animal travels with you or follows, and we do not soften that answer.
HR teams handling assignments
One contact, one written scope and one invoice, with the animal treated as part of the assignment rather than as an afterthought raised two weeks out.
Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and the drive to whichever suits
We collect anywhere in Vietnam and fly from the gateway the route actually wants.
Ho Chi Minh City carries the wider choice of long-haul services, Hanoi the shorter regional ones, and the right airport is the one the routing gives, not the one nearest the apartment. A longer drive with Asia Relocation Vietnam's own people beats a connection that adds a night in a terminal.
That drive is part of the service, not an extra. The animal travels in a cooled vehicle with planned stops and reaches the terminal early — a crate waiting calmly in the shade beats an hour saved on the road.
