Temporary housing in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and Da Nang: an address from the first night

Nothing on this page is signed. Asia Relocation Vietnam holds a furnished residence or a partner hotel in-house for as long as the interval lasts, which is what stops a household agreeing to a Vietnamese lease it has not had time to read.

The expensive mistake at the start of a posting in Vietnam is not a bad hotel. It is a lease signed in week two because the family had nowhere else to be, on a flat nobody had time to compare, in a district chosen because it was near the temporary one.

A stay removes that pressure and does nothing else. The household has a real address from the first night — somewhere to cook, to do laundry, to send a suitcase — and the permanent decision is then taken calmly, or not taken at all until the posting is confirmed.

Asia Relocation Vietnam holds furnished residences and works with hotels and boutique establishments across the three Vietnamese cities it covers. What is included is confirmed in writing before you commit, because a category name tells you nothing about a particular building.

The perimeter

What is held for you, and what a booking deliberately is not

Read the right-hand column first if you are deciding between this page and its neighbour.

What the stay carries

  • A furnished home, not a room. Living space, an equipped kitchen and sleeping areas sized to the household that is arriving.
  • Building amenities where they exist. Pools and fitness centres are common in Vietnamese serviced residences; we say which building has what.
  • Hotels for the shorter end. Partner hotels and boutique establishments, for a week on the ground or for one person.
  • Dates allowed to move. Booked on the assumption that a handover slips, which in Vietnam it frequently does.
  • Inclusions in writing. Cleaning, utilities, internet, what is metered and what is not, before you commit to anything.

Confirmed in writing before the booking is held, city by city.

What a booking is not

  • A lease. No Letter of Intent, no negotiation, no signature — that journey is home search, and it comes after.
  • A workspace. A company needing premises in Vietnam is looking for office search.
  • An introduction to the city. Districts, clinics and registrations belong to city orientation.
  • A school plan. If the term has already started, school search is the urgent file, not this one.
  • A rate off a list. Nobody prices a Vietnamese stay from a category name and a number of nights.

Any of these can run on the same file. Name them in the inquiry.

Kinds of roof

Four ways a household is housed while Vietnam is still being decided

The right one is decided by how long, how many, and how firm the end date is.

The serviced residence

The default where a family arrives together: furnished throughout, a kitchen that works, and a building with amenities. It is the option that lets ordinary life resume before the permanent search is finished.

Most stays

The hotel or boutique establishment

For one person, or for a short spell on the ground before a decision. Central, serviced, and free of the small logistics a household does not want in its first week in a Vietnamese city.

Short stays

Units held together for a team

Companies opening in Vietnam rarely send one person. We hold several units in the same building so the first employees land on identical terms and appear on one file rather than five.

Companies

The stay whose end date is not known

Work authorisation pending, a handover that has already moved once, a posting awaiting confirmation. Here the flexibility of the building matters more than the building.

Five steps from your dates to a key at the door

  1. Dates, household, city

When you land, how many of you, and which of the three Vietnamese cities. If the city is not settled, say so — that changes what we recommend rather than blocking it.

  2. What the household actually needs

Cooking or not, laundry, the run to an office or a school gate, and how much space the first weeks require. Most of the wrong bookings come from skipping this.

  3. A shortlist, with inclusions attached

Two or three real options rather than a category, each with what it includes set out in writing. You compare buildings, not brochures.

  4. Held before you fly

The booking is confirmed from here while you are still abroad, so the household arrives in Vietnam with an address rather than a search.

  5. The extension, or the handover

If the permanent home is ready, the stay ends. If it is not, it is extended. Either way the same coordinator handles it, which is why the end date is allowed to be uncertain.

Who arrives

Four arrivals in Vietnam that need a roof before they need a home

Households whose permanent home is not ready

The commonest case by far. A building that finished late, a handover that moved, or a search that deserves more time than the arrival date allows.

Short business stays

A spell on the ground to see the operation, meet the team or make a decision. Serviced, central, and over before anything needs to be committed to.

The first employees of a new entity

A company establishing itself in Vietnam housing its first arrivals while the workspace is being sorted out. Held together, reported together.

Families who want to see the districts first

Choosing a Vietnamese neighbourhood from photographs is how a first year goes wrong. A stay buys the weeks in which that choice becomes an informed one.

Three cities

Where a stay can be held, and what changes between them

This is one of the services that reaches all three cities, and the three are not interchangeable.

In Ho Chi Minh City the useful question is which side of the city the stay should be on, because the interval is when a household forms its opinion of the districts it will later be choosing between. Temporary housing and the permanent search are run here by the same team, so those two conversations are never held by two people who have not spoken.

Hanoi has its own stock and its own habits, and the capital rewards booking earlier than feels necessary. Da Nang is genuinely covered — it is one of the three cities named for this service — on a smaller market, which we scope against what is actually there rather than assuming the two larger cities apply.

FAQ

What arrivals ask before a Vietnamese stay is held

Why not just book a hotel ourselves?
For a few nights, do. The reason people ask us is that an arrival in Vietnam rarely ends when the booking does, and a stay that has to be extended twice from abroad costs more in effort than it saves. We hold something that can move with the dates.
Can the stay be extended if the lease start moves?
That is the situation the service exists for. Handovers slip, buildings finish late, and an immigration step lands when it lands. We book knowing the end date may move, and we say at the outset which residences can absorb that and which cannot.
What is actually inside a serviced residence?
A furnished living space, a proper kitchen, sleeping areas for the household, and in many buildings a pool and a fitness centre. What varies is everything else, so we put the inclusions of your specific residence in writing rather than describing the category.
Is a hotel ever the better answer?
Often, for a short stay or for one person. We work with hotels and boutique establishments across the cities we cover, and for a week on the ground they beat a residence on location and on the fact that nobody has to think about breakfast.
Do you book for a whole team arriving together?
Yes, and companies setting up in Vietnam are a large part of why the service exists. Units are held together so that the first employees land in the same building, on the same terms, reported on one file rather than on five booking confirmations.
Can you hold something in Da Nang?
Yes. Da Nang is one of the three Vietnamese cities where this service runs, alongside Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi. The market there is smaller, which we take into account when we scope the stay rather than discovering it afterwards.
Does taking a stay commit us to anything else?
No. Nothing here is a lease, and nothing obliges you to take the rest of the package. Plenty of households book a stay through Asia Relocation Vietnam and run the permanent search themselves. Each service is scoped and priced on its own.
What decides what a stay costs?
The city, the size of the household, how flexible the end date has to be, and whether it is a residence or a hotel. We quote against those once they are known, in writing, and never over the telephone from a category name.
