The investor visa follows capital that is already in, not a plan to put it there
Three of the four documents at its centre come out of the company's file — registration, licence, capital records — rather than the traveller's. Asia Relocation Vietnam reads that structure before a single immigration form is opened.
An investor application in Vietnam is assembled from a business registration certificate, an investment licence, proof of the capital contributed and a valid passport. Read that list again: only the passport comes from you. The rest sits with the company, often assembled long before anyone thought about immigration at all — and the application is only as sound as they are.
That is also why intention is not enough. The route is built on an investment that already exists rather than on one that is planned, and an applicant who arrives with a term sheet instead of a licence has nothing we can file yet.
Asia Relocation Vietnam reviews how the investment is structured before anything is filed, assembles the corporate documents and the personal ones into one consistent set, lodges the application, and reopens the file when the licence, the shareholding or the capital changes rather than waiting for the next expiry.
What the investor file draws on, and what the company already holds
We do not produce corporate documents. We make an immigration file stand on them.
Our side of it
- The structure, read first. How the investment is held, by whom, and whether the paperwork supports an application today or only later.
- The corporate set. Registration, licence and evidence of capital contributed, checked against each other and against the passports.
- The partners, filed together. Several applicants drawing on one set of company documents, lodged as a coordinated group.
- The submission. Lodged with the Immigration Department and followed up, with the state of the file reported rather than assumed.
- The reopening. Renewal and extension as the business develops, and a fresh reading whenever the licence or the shareholding moves.
Quoted in writing once we have seen the corporate documents.
Produced elsewhere, or filed elsewhere
- The company itself. Incorporation, licensing and accounts are your corporate advisers' work; we build on what they issue.
- Trips before the money. Meetings, audits and negotiations belong on the DN business visa.
- Working in the business. Employment is a labour decision, on the Vietnam work permit page, and it is decided on its own terms.
- The employee entry. Staff you hire and bring in are handled at LD working visa.
- Living here rather than visiting. Once the business keeps you in the country, see temporary resident card.
One coordinator, whichever of these the structure turns out to need.
Five investors, five states of the paperwork
The ambition is not the question we start with. The documents are.
A founder who has just registered an entity
Everything is new, including the mistakes. We read the licence and the capital evidence before the immigration file is opened rather than after it is refused.
A partner buying into an existing Vietnamese company
The entity is older than the investment, and the documents describe a company that has changed. We make the file match what is registered today.
Several shareholders applying at once
Different nationalities, one set of Vietnamese corporate papers. Filed as one group so they cannot describe the company in two ways.
A licence amended since the last filing
New activity, new address, new capital. The file was built on the structure as it stood, and we establish what the change means before the renewal falls due.
An investment announced but not yet contributed
The conversation this page exists for. We say plainly that the route is not open yet, and which entry covers the travel until it is.
The licence before the passport
-
Look at the structure, not the ambition
How the investment is held and what has actually been contributed. This single reading decides whether there is a file to open at all.
-
Gather what the company already has
The Vietnamese registration certificate, the investment licence and the capital evidence, collected from whoever holds them and checked against each other.
-
Build each applicant on that base
Passports and personal documents added to the corporate set, so partners applying together present one coherent picture of the same business.
-
Lodge and follow the application
Submitted to the Vietnam Immigration Department and pursued, with you told where it stands, including when the honest report is that nothing has moved.
-
Come back when the business changes
Renewals and extensions as the company develops, and a re-reading each time the licence or the shareholding is amended.
Four people whose status depends on a company's paperwork
Founders of a Vietnamese entity
They built the company and assume their own status follows automatically. The application is built from the documents, which is not the same thing.
Minority partners in a local business
Often thinly documented, because the company was set up by someone else and nobody kept the file an investor application would need.
Groups placing a director on the board
A regional head office sending someone to sit on a Vietnamese entity, where the corporate set exists but sits in another country's legal department.
Investors already here on another entry
They came to look, then committed. Their question is when the change of basis becomes possible, and we answer it against the paperwork.
Three of these four documents sit with the company, and usually somewhere else entirely
The application we build out of paperwork that lives with the company, not with the traveller.
A trading company in Ho Chi Minh City, a manufacturing entity in a province outside Hanoi, a services business in Da Nang. Wherever it is registered, its certificate, its licence and its capital records are the substance of the application — and they usually live with an accountant, a law firm or a shareholder abroad rather than with the person who has to travel.
Getting them into one consistent set is most of the work, and it is why Asia Relocation Vietnam keeps this in-house instead of passing it between advisers. We ask the corporate side the questions the immigration file has to answer, in Vietnamese where that is faster, and we quote only once we have seen what actually exists.
What investors ask before the file is opened
I intend to invest. Can the visa be arranged first?
Which documents does the file actually rest on?
We are several partners. How is that handled?
Does this visa let me work in the company I have invested in?
Our licence has been amended since the last filing. Does that matter?
Can my family come with me?
We already have an accountant and a lawyer in Vietnam. What do you add?
What does an investor file cost?
If the capital is not in yet
The trips that come before the money
Meetings, due diligence and site visits, on an entry that fits commercial travel.
